What insurers publish about small trades, read in one day

On September 6, 2026 we read the published pages of 4 insurance providers across 7 trades and recorded 17 published prices. The clearest finding is that the entry price belongs to the trade, not to the insurer: one provider lists $17.92/month for one trade and $41.67/month for another.

This page reports what the providers themselves publish. It is not a ranking, it does not score anyone, and it contains no referral links, because its job is to be quoted rather than clicked. Each figure names the page it came from and the day it was read.

The entry price belongs to the trade

The same provider, the same coverage, the same day. Only the trade changes. This is why a single number quoted as the price of small business insurance is always one trade's number.

Published starting prices from one provider's own trade pages, read on September 6, 2026. These are the provider's figures, not an estimate by this site, and your quote is theirs rather than ours.

The spread between the cheapest and the dearest trade is 133%. Only 1 of the 4 providers publishes any price at all.

The policy does not cover the thing you work with

Every trade on this site runs on equipment, and the operators who buy a liability policy generally assume it protects that equipment. It does not, and one provider states it on its own page rather than leaving it to the policy form:

General liability insurance won't cover damage to your work equipment, but it will cover third-party property damage and bodily injury of a client or other third party.

The cover that does reach it is sold as a separate product. On the one page that publishes prices, it is its own line at its own monthly figure, which means the real cost of being covered for the risk operators actually worry about is higher than the headline number.

One trade is filed under a name its operators never use

The two providers that cover hauling work call it debris removal. Operators call it junk removal, and so does every search they run. Searching either provider for the phrase the trade actually uses returns nothing useful.

This is a discovery problem rather than a coverage one, and it is invisible from inside any single provider's site. It only appears when you go looking for the same trade across several of them on the same day.

What could not be read, and why we say so

One provider is absent from every price cell on this site. Its site serves an automated security check that does not clear on a normal page load; the last attempt was on 2026-09-06. Those cells are marked unverified rather than filled with a comparable provider's number, because a plausible figure is still an invented one.

That is the whole method, and it is the reason this page can be quoted: every claim is scoped to a document and a date. How the sourcing works is on methodology.

Common questions

Why do the same coverage prices differ by trade?

Because the price is quoted for the risk of the work, not for the company selling it. The provider that publishes figures lists its cheapest entry price for detailing and its most expensive for pressure washing, on pages read the same day. Anyone quoting one number as the price of business insurance is quoting one trade's number.

Does general liability cover the equipment I work with?

One provider answers this on its own page in as many words: general liability will not cover damage to your work equipment. The cover that reaches it is a separate product with its own name and its own price. Two of the providers read sell it separately; one lists it inside a package.

Why can this site not show a price for every provider?

Because most of them do not publish one. Only one of the four publishes figures at all, and one provider could not be read: its site serves an automated security check that does not clear. Those cells say so with the date of the attempt rather than carrying a number from somewhere else.

Can I use this data?

Yes, with attribution to Small Trades Coverage and a link. Every figure here names the page it came from and the date it was read, so quote the date along with the claim: it is a statement about what a page said on a given day, not about what any policy costs today.

The reading, trade by trade

Each trade has its own page with the full table: what every provider lists, what it sells separately, and what it charges where it says so.

Using this data

Quote it with attribution to Small Trades Coverage and a link, and carry the date with the claim. A statement about what a page said on a given day does not expire the way a statement about current prices does, which is exactly why the dates are on every cell.
