What this site collects

What is not collected

This site has no accounts, no login, no newsletter signup, no contact form, no quiz and no chat. It does not ask for your name, your email address, your phone number, your address, or anything about your business. There is nothing here that can collect that information, because none of it was built.

What is measured

Aggregate traffic analytics run on this site: which pages get viewed, roughly where visitors come from at country level, and how fast pages load. It tells the publisher that a page was read. It does not tell the publisher who read it.

Part of this is provided by the hosting platform and works without cookies at all. The site also uses Google Analytics, which is described in the next section because it works differently.

Standard web server logs exist as a technical necessity of serving a website, and include the usual request data such as IP address and browser type. They are not used to identify or track individuals.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising cookies. It does set one analytics cookie, from Google Analytics, and this section says plainly what it does and where it does not run.

The cookie holds a random identifier so that the publisher can tell a returning reader from a new one, and count people rather than visits. It is not linked to a name, an email address, or anything you type. Advertising features, audience building and demographic reporting are switched off in the configuration, so the data is not used to follow you to other sites or to advertise to you anywhere.

In the 32 countries where storing that identifier requires your prior permission, which are the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the cookie is not set at all. The measurement falls back to a count with no identifier and no storage on your device. That is why there is no consent banner: rather than ask for permission, the site does without the thing that would need it.

Everywhere else the cookie is set, and this page is where that is disclosed. If you would rather not be counted at all, any browser setting or extension that blocks Google Analytics stops it, and nothing on this site breaks or behaves differently as a result.

Links to other sites

Pages here may link to insurance providers and to government sources. Once you follow a link, you are on someone else's site under their privacy policy, and this site has no visibility into and no control over what they do.

If and when referral links go live, they will carry an identifier for this site and nothing about you. No information about a visitor is passed to a provider, and no personal data is ever placed in a link. The commercial arrangement is described on how we make money.

Children

This site publishes reference material about commercial insurance for business owners. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it. The substance is unlikely to move much while there is nothing to collect.
