Food truck insurance: what the providers actually publish

All 3 providers that list food trucks were read on September 6, 2026. Two of them name commercial auto or property cover for the truck itself. The third publishes four prices and lists no equipment cover at all on this page, which it does list on every other trade page.

This page is a reading of what each provider publishes about food trucks, on the dates shown. It is not a ranking and it does not know anything about your business. The truck is a kitchen and a vehicle at once, and the pages split that between different products.

The facts, provider by provider

What each published page says, in its own words. Every cell carries its source and the date it was read.

Read from each provider's own page for this trade on September 6, 2026. Prices are the provider's own published figures, not a quote from this site. Cells marked unverified are pages that could not be read.

The gap list

What the online policy does not do

  • The truck is two things and the forms treat it as two things

Two of the three pages sell cover for the vehicle under a separate product from the liability policy. Which form answers a given loss depends on what the truck was doing at the time.

  • One page names no equipment cover for this trade

The same provider lists contractor's equipment cover on every other trade page on this site, and not on this one. We report the absence rather than assume it carries over.

  • Employee injury is a different policy

One provider says it on its own page: general liability does not cover injury to your own employees, and points at workers' compensation instead.

  • The commissary requirement is not an insurance question

The rule that decides whether the business is possible at all comes from the retail food code, not from any policy. It is on this site's food truck permit page.

Every line here comes from the providers' own pages or from the standard forms, with the date each was read.

The starter checklist, by trade and state

Every licensing, tax and renewal line for your trade, with the official source and the date it was read on each one. Contractor licensing verified in CA, NV, AZ, FL and TX, across the 7 trades of this site. Not 50 states: the ones we have not read are absent rather than estimated.

Common questions

Do the providers cover the truck itself?

Two of the three name commercial auto or commercial property on the page for this trade. That is a separate product from general liability, and which one answers a loss depends on what the vehicle was doing when it happened.

What does a food truck liability policy pay for?

The pages describe injury to someone who is not an employee, damage to property belonging to someone else, and the cost of defending a claim. One of them adds that food-borne illness claims fall in the same place.

Is my crew covered?

Not by general liability. One provider states on its page that general liability does not cover injury to employees on the job and points at workers' compensation, which most states require once you have employees.

Why is one provider missing?

The fourth provider in this site's registry does not list food trucks among the trades it covers, so it is absent rather than shown with empty cells.

How this page is sourced

Each row is a reading of the provider's own product page for food truck, quoted verbatim and dated. Providers whose pages could not be read are listed with the attempt date rather than left out, because leaving them out would make the comparison look more complete than it is.

Related on this site: the commissary rule that decides whether the business is possible is on food truck permits. Which form answers when the vehicle is part of the work is on vehicles and liability. Sourcing standard on methodology.
